Nancy Turret has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with additional training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional for more than three decades and maintains a multi-state online private practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Prolonged Grief Disorder. Nancy continues her association with Columbia University Center for Prolonged Grief as a senior supervisor and workshop trainer. Under the tutelage of Katherine Shear, M.D., Nancy provided prolonged grief treatment for patients suffering with prolonged grief in a NIMH study administered at the New York State Psychiatric Institute from 2007 – 2015. As a Senior Psychiatric and Research Social Worker at New York Psychiatric Institute, Nancy developed excellent diagnostic and treatment skills in a variety of in-patient and out-patient clinics. As an instructor in Clinical Psychiatric Social Work at Columbia University and New York University, Nancy has trained medical residents, residents, and graduate students. Throughout the years, Nancy continues to deliver many presentations and works on a variety of publications. As a contributing author in the book, “Techniques of Grief Therapy” Nancy co-authored a chapter describing grief-monitoring.
Throughout the years, Nancy has also provided supportive psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to individuals, families, and couples. As a caring, dedicated professional and a trained clinician, Nancy Turret implements treatments to address psychiatric conditions including depression, bipolar illness, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as prolonged grief disorder.
